| What can we scan and what for?
We scan anything - reflective, transparency, negative and 3D objects can be scanned to a certain extent. We do recommend using transparency film for all photographic work done and to shoot on the largest format possible, the results are a better quality outcome. This can be for simply keeping a digital library of your photos or for images to be incorporated into a brochure, artwork or printed material produced by Blueroom Designs.
What exactly do we do?
When we do scanning we give your transparencies the personal touch we only scan the relevant
parts of the image needed so as to save time on cropping out all the unwanted scraps around the
edge. The scans are High Res so you can print up to A3 comfortably. To top it all we can then also
write your scanned images onto CD this CD can be added to at a later date. We can format the
CD for PC format or Macintosh or a cross platform hybrid format to be read by both. This isn't the end,
your CD will come in a jewel case with thumbnails printed on the front and index numbers to the corresponding files. This is a personal service which we see to be unlike any other.

Why you need to write to CD?
It is necessary to put scans onto CD because they will not fit onto floppy disks unless the files are
compressed into JPEG format, which is unwise because the quality of the scan is reduced because
of the high compression. We save the scans in TIFF format which hardly alters the original scan,
although the file sizes are bigger.
Further information
The CD holds 700MB of information: you don't have to write all of this at once - you can do it in

or PC or a Hybrid format which can be read by both platforms.

What is it all about and why?
Apart from storing scans, CDs can be used to produce libraries or archives of your floppy disks or zip
disks. You can also have a CD of your artwork or backup your Hard Drive. You can have CDs made
for promotional and distribution purposes.
How do I get the information to you?
The information can be dropped off, sent or we can pickup (time allowing). The Disks can be
standard floppy 2.5" or Zip disks. If you have a Zip drive but only one or two disks you can hire additional disks for £2 each. Each disk holds 100MB so to fill a CD you would need 7 - you can hire 7
